Working here

A small team, real responsibility

We are a small team in Cardiff looking after the technology behind businesses across the UK. That means you work on the whole problem rather than one narrow corner of it, and you see what your fix actually did for the client.

We would rather hire someone who explains things well and follows through than someone who collects certifications and disappears mid ticket. If you are early in your career and willing to learn properly, say so in your application.

IT Technician

  • £41,700 a year
  • Full time
  • Cardiff, with travel between client sites

We are looking for an IT Technician to support our clients day to day: keeping computers, networks and accounts running, and fixing things quickly when they are not. You will be the person people reach when something stops working, so the job rewards clear communication as much as technical skill.

What you will be doing

  • Install, configure, maintain and troubleshoot computers, laptops, printers and other IT equipment
  • Provide technical support for hardware, software, network and system issues
  • Diagnose and resolve problems promptly, and keep the person who raised it informed
  • Install and update operating systems, applications, antivirus and security patches
  • Set up and maintain user accounts, email accounts and access permissions
  • Monitor and maintain networks, Wi-Fi and the rest of the infrastructure
  • Run regular backups and assist with data recovery when it is needed
  • Keep accurate records of equipment, software licences and the issues you have handled
  • Help set up and maintain servers, switches, routers and other network equipment
  • Work within our security policies, and flag it when something does not meet them
  • Give clients straightforward guidance and basic training when it would help
  • Coordinate with external vendors and service providers where needed
  • Escalate complex issues rather than letting them sit

What we need from you

  • Diploma or degree in IT, Computer Science or a related field
  • One to three years in IT support or a similar technical role
  • Good working knowledge of Windows and Microsoft Office
  • Understanding of networking fundamentals: TCP/IP, LAN and WAN, Wi-Fi and how to troubleshoot them
  • Hands on experience with computer hardware, printers and peripherals
  • A grounding in cybersecurity and data protection practice
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem solving
  • Clear communication, and patience with people who are not technical
  • Able to work on your own and as part of a team

Nice to have

  • Active Directory and Microsoft 365 administration
  • Windows Server and network administration
  • Experience with helpdesk and ticketing systems
  • Backup systems and endpoint security
  • Certifications such as CompTIA A+ or Network+, or Microsoft equivalents

Working pattern

  • Full time position
  • Occasional work outside normal business hours for maintenance or urgent issues
  • Some travel between offices and client locations

How the role is measured

  • Support requests resolved in good time
  • System and network availability
  • Equipment kept maintained and accounted for
  • Clients satisfied with the support they get
  • Security policies followed in practice, not just on paper
